"Don't worry when you encounter a setback, you can always find a solution. If you can't solve something right away, don't be frustrated. Being emotional won't solve the problem, but staying calm will help you deal with whatever you are facing."

When I perform on stage, the audience is always very responsive. They like my performance. Maybe they think it's funny to see my singing and dancing, but I don't do it to be funny. My stage persona is just a way to hide my anxiety and my lack of confidence.

During the pandemic, one of my performances last year was moved online. The whole thing, including my singing, was recorded. When I went back and listened to the recording, I felt so depressed by my own performance - my singing was so bad! I had never really thought about how to improve my singing. I figured that if I were able to sing well, I'd be a singer, and since I couldn't, I'd be a rapper!

After that performance, I made up my mind to learn to sing. Singing is actually very hard! Controlling sounds with your voice actually takes a lot of imagination and attention to your breathing. When I first started learning, I felt so discouraged. After six months, I could see small improvements in my singing. I realised that as long as I am willing to learn and to practice, I can make progress. I know that I'm improving, not because of anyone else's applause, but because I can feel it. When I perform on stage, I'm not as nervous anymore.

I used to think that talent was innate - that you either have it or you don't. Now I know otherwise. I'm surrounded by talented musicians who devote a lot of time to practicing. Just because you're talented doesn't mean you don't have to work hard. Of course, hard work isn't the only thing that matters when it comes to success - you also need luck to be on your side - but at least I can do my part!
