NOW RECRUITING! - Youth Advisory Committee

We are searching for 10 enthusiastic individuals who are driven to make a difference in the mental health landscape of the Wong Tai Sin District to join our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).

Over a 10-month term, you’ll have a unique platform to voice your opinions and contribute to the development of this project. Moreover, you’ll play a pivotal role in organising the anticipated Youth Wellbeing Carnival in 2025.

Role of the YAC

As a member of the YAC, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the team and make a lasting impact. You will help raise awareness of mental health among your peers, promote positivity and wellbeing in the Wong Tai Sin District, and inspire a sense of unity within the community. Your role includes, but are not limited to:

Time period March 2024 to January 2025 (10 months)
Roles & Responsibilities To design captivating themes and activities for the Youth Wellbeing Carnival 2025, and transition with the 2025 committee for implementation
  • Engage in consultation meetings, where your unique insights and ideas will shape and guide the implementation of the project
  • Collaborate within the committee before and after each meeting, working on tasks, like brainstorming, reviewing project content, managing administrative tasks, coordinating, researching, and designing youth-friendly elements
  • Ensure that the project aligns with the needs of youth, empowering them to improve their overall well-being
  • Obtain social-emotional and peer support training to equip you with the knowledge and skills to support peers
(attendance is mandatory) 
Time and Dates: 
1. 20 Mar 2024 (Wed) 5pm – 7pm
2. 10 Jul 2024 (Wed) 5pm – 7pm
3. 6 Nov 2024 (Wed) 4:30pm – 7pm

The above meetings are mandatory for all members to attend*. Committee may also schedule other voluntary gatherings throughout the year if deemed necessary.

*Remarks: If a committee member is absent from any mandatory meetings without prior notification (at least 2 weeks before the meeting date) and approval, they will not be eligible to receive the committee’s Certificate of Graduation

Registration Requirements
  • Age: 14-19 years old
  • Language: Ability to communicate and write in Chinese
  • Experience: While no prior experience is necessary, individuals with volunteer, event planning, leadership, or social media content development experience will be given priority consideration
  • Nomination: To apply, secure a nomination from a teacher, school social worker, or respected figure from a volunteer organisation or mentorship programme

Application Process

Are you ready to make a difference? Join the 2024 Youth Advisory Committee by following these simple steps!

  1. Fill out the application form (also provided below) and get a signed nomination form (also provided below) from a teacher, social worker, principal or organisation leaders.
  2. Ensure your completed forms are submitted before 10 Mar 2024 (Sun) 11:59 PM. Late submissions will not be considered.
  3. Selected applicants will be invited for an in-person interview between 4 - 12 Mar 2024. Stay tuned for an email with all the details.

We will notify successful candidates on 14 Mar 2024 (Thu).
