Dear Friends of KELY,

As I step down as Executive Director from KELY Support Group on 30 June, I have been reflecting on the years of my youth that I have had to serve other youth in Hong Kong - what a privilege it has been!

Since I joined in 2011, as a Programme Coordinator, I have witnessed KELY’s growth as an organisation from a small office of six to a team of almost 20 dedicated young professionals, who work tirelessly alongside youth committees and volunteers to provide support to young people across Hong Kong.

KELY’s strength as an organisation comes from its founding story, with the belief in the positive power that young people can have on their peers and communities. Our peer support approach to drug prevention work, affirmed by international bodies (Case Study #9, pg 47) has been recognised in Hong Kong through our long-standing education programme in partnership with the Narcotics Division for almost two decades.

In addition, as our work in the last 10 years has evolved in the support provided to youth to encompass support for their mental health culminating in several established initiatives that are now signature in Hong Kong including :

  • Talk2Me – a peer support training certificate training programme to equip young people in supporting those struggling around them
  • Coolminds – a web based mental health information resource led by youth for youth created out of a three-year partnership with Mind HK
  • SOSKELY – an outreach service in partnership with event organisers and other professional bodies to prevent crisis

Our young people need support now more than ever with increased mental health challenges on the rise. I am confident that with your continued support, our passionate Board Members, team and incoming Executive Director will be able to provide even more support and a new chapter of services for our youth in Hong Kong.

Thank you for your generous support and dedicated partnership in support of our next generation in Hong Kong.

With heartfelt thanks,

Sky Siu
