The Open Door Work Placement Programme offers employment skills training and subsidised work placements to disadvantaged young people from Ethnic Minority backgrounds who are secondary school students or recent secondary school graduates across Hong Kong. The objectives of this programme are to increase professional and personal development opportunities for this target group and increase their exposure to work experience.
The programme has 2 components, a mandatory 3-day training programme offered to 50 applicants and then subsidised 4-week work placements in a range of industries offered by more than 10 different companies. Participants compete for these placements through CVs and interviews. KELY recognises the enormous value of supporting young people with skills development, practical experience and a better understanding of what different jobs require and entail.
