Support, Empowerment, Change - Louis Hou

As I sit in my living room, reflecting on my journey as a father to two boys, now aged 20 and 24, I am filled with gratitude. These years have taught me about the joys and challenges of youth, particularly during adolescence. I’ve witnessed my boys navigate their own struggles, and it has become painfully clear to me just how vital support systems are for young people during this pivotal stage of life.

In my life as a sports coach and in the realm of youth empowerment, I have seen how even small acts of kindness can lead to significant changes. When young people feel supported and understood, their confidence can soar, and they begin to believe in their own potential. My role as a counsellor further reinforces this belief that positive change is possible.

I am drawn to KELY Support Group because of the incredible impact it has on the lives of young people. The stories of transformation and resilience that emerge from KELY embody the hope and support that every adolescent needs. KELY’s logo symbolises the importance of peer support—a beacon of unity and understanding among individuals facing similar challenges.

KELY represents so much to me: a force for social change driven by the principles of preventive education and intervention. I am eager to contribute my experience to KELY's mission and help amplify its impact. Together, we can inspire hope and equip young people with the tools they need to thrive. I am excited to be part of an organisation that champions the belief that no young person should have to face their challenges alone.
