The Power of Belief, Unlocking the Potential of Youth
My commitment to community service began during my university years, volunteering both in Hong Kong and in rural communities abroad. I was deeply moved by the incredible strength of the youth. Many faced challenges far greater than their age should demand, yet their ability and mental resilience were far higher than I ever expected. This left a lasting impression on me; it taught me that meaningful support, grounded in empathy and consistency, can unlock the vast potential that is already within them.
This belief guided my journey with the Leo Club of Hong Kong Citizens as a founding member, president, and Leo Advisor. Working alongside passionate young people, I witnessed how youth-led initiatives can create lasting change. I saw firsthand that young people possess a unique ability to lead and innovate; during my presidency, our members designed projects for secondary students that promoted the awareness of poverty, inclusion and community service. What inspired me most was seeing participants grow into leaders who then supported the next generation. This ripple effect of empowerment is, to me, the true essence of community impact.
Joining the Board of KELY Support Group feels like a natural extension of my journey. KELY’s mission of empowering youth through mental health support, life skills training and harm‑prevention education resonates deeply with my conviction that youth are inherently resilient. Today’s young people navigate immense pressures, but I have seen that with the right guidance, their potential is limitless. In this role, I hope to strengthen KELY’s sustainability while continuing to learn from the youth we serve. When young people are empowered to lead, they don’t just transform their own lives, they become catalysts for positive change that extends far beyond themselves.
