Jockey Club "Moments not Wasted" Youth Education Programme
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club “Moments Not Wasted” Youth Education Programme (the Programme) is a city-wide youth alcohol education and intervention service for 2021 to 2024. The Programme is the first multi-level alcohol prevention and harm reduction programme that primarily targets adolescents and young adults in Hong Kong. The Programme aims to prevent alcohol consumption, reduce related harms and build a healthy and supportive community for youth in the long run.
Programme objectives:
- Increase young people’s knowledge around alcohol
- Reduce the overall frequency of alcohol consumption among youth
- Increase skills to resist peer pressure
The Programme consists of the following elements:
- OurFutures Web-based Alcohol Education Course
- A comic-based self-learning activity, followed by a 1-hour debriefing session conducted by our trained staff
- Peer Facilitator Training
- A peer support training initiative that prepares selected students to be leaders in engaging their peers on alcohol-related topics, including KELY-led campaigns or outreaches.
- Parents and teachers seminar
- Information sessions and workshops to provide update tips for discussing alcohol with teens
- Information sessions and workshops to provide update tips for discussing alcohol with teens
- Alcohol First Aid Training
- A 3-hour certificate training programme in Alcohol Awareness & Harm Reduction Skills
